Long before my oldest was approaching her LDS baptism, I’ve been thinking and gathering ideas for gifts for all my nieces and nephews that have been turning 8 and wanted to share the best of the best baptism gift ideas I think are out there!

Always Remember Baptism Towel

There are some other great gifts with the reminder to always remember Jesus. You can get a necklace for a girl or a tie bar for a boy. I really like the look of this white always pin.

Line upon line primary edition

These beautiful and colorful versions of the Book of Mormon are perfect for an 8-year-old! You can read to them and have them draw photos in the margins, a set they will be excited to open and not have to worry about ripping those delicate pages.

I also love their study editions. My plan/hope is to buy one of these for each of my children but I will use them myself as a study guide and will write notes and little letters to that child as I study with them and how I can better parent them in mind.

Baptism Workbook & We Believe 11×17 Articles of Faith Posters

They have a baptism bundle where you can get all the Articles of Faith posters and the A Mighty Change Baptism workbook! I have the A Mighty Change Parent-Child Baptism Workbook, and I think it is just the cutest and best way to prep and talk to a 7-8 year old about this important transition and part of their life. All in the notion of excitement and to help them to understand it more fully.

Baptismal Covenants Stand

These little stands are customizable and gives the new baptized member something to personalize by coloring it in and keep on their nightstand as a reminder of the promises and covenants they make at their baptism. Check out their Etsy shop for more items too!

Tiny 3D Temples

These tiny 3D temples would be a great nightlight in their room. It also plays music and you can choose which song it plays.

Locked diary journal

What kid didn’t grow up with a diary that had a lock and key? Around this age is when a child really wants to spread their wings a bit more and become more independent so having their own diary to write out things just for themselves is I think a very healthy way to process their thoughts and feelings.

Make sure to keep the extra key for yourself so you can come to the rescue when they inevitably lose theirs. If it is a password lock, make sure to write it down somewhere (and promise never to look at it if they are wanting to keep things private).

Book of Testimonies

I think a book with family member’s testimonies is such a great gift, whether old or young! I think I will actually have her “sign in book” be a “bear your testimony” sign in book where those who come to my children’s baptism would not just write a little note to her but write a short testimony of Jesus so that my kids can read the testimonies of those who came to her baptism.

Jewelry

If your child likes jewelry, this star ring is a very cute gift and reminder of the baptism covenants we make as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The acronym poem is wonderful:

Cross Bracelet

I think this dainty cross bracelet is a beautiful way to have a daily reminder of covenanting with Jesus Christ. One interpretation I have loved when seeing the cross is the two great commandments representing the two lines of a cross. The short horizontal line represents loving your neighbor. And the longer vertical line represents loving God. Both are important in showing faithfulness and becoming more like Him.

Ruby Necklace or Bracelet

I love the ruby station necklaces or bracelets as a baptism gift. It is more unique (not many people think about gifting a ruby necklace) than your typical baptism gifts and I love that. This one is a simple pretty option and at a good price! It dives deeper into the meaning of scripture that is connected to being a covenantal woman.

It is in Proverbs 31: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” This whole chapter receives a lot of controversy due to the fact that it seems like an exhausting checklist for a “traditional wife”, however after reading this book called “Far Above Rubies” by Tammy Hall, my entire mindset has shifted and now I absolutely love that chapter. And so, I would love for my girls to know that they are far more precious than rubies and that their relationship with Christ and this covenantal path they just started their journey on, is a path that values them more than anything else on this earth.

Tithing Savings Bank

Now that they are old enough to understand money a bit more and how we can show our love towards God and others, a little piggy bank or Tithing Savings Bank could be a great gift for an 8-year-old. You could use any kind of 2/3 sectioned container for Spending, Saving, and Giving.

That savings bank has “Fun, Tithing, Mission” spots. They can start saving for missions and place 10% of their earnings for tithin. This is a fun visual way to teach them the important skills of saving money and giving back to the Lord.

This card set is a cute and simple gift to add to your next baptism you attend. It is simple but full of beautiful colors and photography.

Tin Prayer Box

This tiny box is similar to a journal for a young girl but it is a cute little prayer box that they can get in the habit of writing down their prayers. I think this is such a neat way to help begin a relationship with God through prayer in the form of writing them out. And I love the little tin idea since it feels like you tuck it away in a space place that is dedicated for God’s eyes. There are tons of different design and quote options to choose from that feel just right for the baptism girl!

Daily Blessings Box

A modern, more elevated box with cards to pause, read, and reflect on daily. This site also has probably the coolest phone cases, stickers, and pillows centered on Christ. They even have a Jesus plushie!

Scripture Journal

A great gift for a new member of the church is a nice scripture journal. It can be either the Always Remember Scripture Journal or any kind of journal you find in any store. You can also add a few scripture study stickers as well!

Baptism Journal

I think it is extremely important for the child who is getting baptized to have their own baptism journal where they can write down the feelings they had and memories of that day. I know anyone who did not do this, as an adult, regrets not having something written down. It is hard to remember those little details, and it is a beautifully adorable thing to see in an 8-year-old handwriting a beautiful testimony. This book is a great option, you can get a cute notebook or anything else that makes sense!
