New York Food Recommendations

Two ** means I highly recommend it.

One * means I remember it and recommend it.

No stars mean I don’t remember it but it’s recommended by others!

Upper  West  Side

Midtown

  • **Milk Bar – Yummy ice cream, famous for using corn flakes and cereal milk! Lots of locations in NYC. My sister’s favorite!
  • *Totto Ramen – Delicious! Get the Pork Ramen. The wait can be 30- 60 minutes on average (no reservations or takeout). Bring cash!
  • *V{iv} – Thai, REALLY REALLY GOOD
  • Patzeria – Classic and absolutely delicious NYC food. My sister-in-law’s favorite!

Chelsea

  • **Los Tacos No. 1 — My FAVORITE place for tacos. The especial Quesidilla and the al pastor taco are seriously gold. They’ve also got a spot near Times Square. Perfect to get right before or after a Broadway show, it’s only a couple blocks from the main area!
  • Bareburger — make sure to get the pickle appetizer.
  • *City Bakery — AMAZING hot chocolate & everything else. delicious choco croissants.
  • *Doughnut Plant — So good

West Village

  • **Magnolia Bakery – There are lots of locations but the one in the Village is the original and is a cute little building. Get the banana pudding!
  • *Sockerbit – Swedish candy store, super cute and minimalistic. Good candy!
  • Tartine – Reasonably priced French food
  • **Molly’s Cupcakes – The creme brulee cupcake is devine. Key Lime Pie is another good one! All of them are amazing.

Flat Iron

  • *Eataly — Amazing Italian market with restaurants inside. Even just walk around for a bit.
  • **Shake Shack — delicious burgers and shakes, and the cutest place

 

East Village

 

Gramercy

  • Nam Pung – Vietnamese sandwiches. YUM. Around union square. really good
  • *Big Gay Ice Cream – Soft serve ice cream injected with dolce de leche, sea salt, and dipped in chocolate…Need I say more?
  • Essabagel – Classic NYC Bagels.

 

Soho

  • **Dominique Ansel Bakery – I love this bakery, they’re always thinking of unique out of the box things that taste absolutely delicious! The inventor of the cronut, they do a new one every month!
  • *Cafe Habana – Cuban food, get the grilled corn on the cob!
  • *Lombardi’s Pizza – Manhattan. Classic NYC Pizza.
  • *Macbar – If you love Mac & Cheese you’ll definitely want to try this place.

 

Nolita

  • Rubirosa – Family-style Italian, pepperoni pizza is good.
  • Tacombi – serves tacos out of a converted VW bus, cool to go see

 

Harlem

  • Sylvia’s – Southern comfort food, amazing chicken and waffles!

 

Brooklyn

  • *Grimaldi’s pizza – One of the best NYC pizza…the pepperoni is great!
  • Juliana’s – Another famous pizza spot!
  • Fette Sau – BBQ
  • Le Barricou – French style country bistro, Wwilliamsburg
  • Five Leaves – Amazing Australian burgers and lots more. Good brunch! Gorgeous restaurant.
  • Pies ‘n thighs – Brooklyn soul food & baked goods. Kent demands we try this.
  • Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain — get a milkshake, or sundae
